Next Steps

Once the 50:50 program has concluded individuals and churches are encouraged to turn the lessons learned into habits that last a lifetime. There are two exciting ways you and your church can do this.

Support SAO Children

SAO Children is what many people think of as a child sponsorship program, but with two critical differences:

 1. Rather than helping one child alone, SAO Children improves the well-being of all children within a poor community. This is because SAO Children focuses on things that build child well-being, such as access to clean water and helping parents earn a decent income so they can meet the needs of their children for themselves.

 2. Rather than simply giving money, SAO Children supporters have opportunities to act across all 50:50 areas: listening, consuming, speaking, giving and praying. During the year Baptist World Aid will send you updates on the progress of children in your community; let you know about advocacy actions that improve child well-being; send you tips on ethical consumption that positively impacts children; offer you opportunities to pray for children in partner communities.

You can become a SAO Sponsor for $42.00 a month. You will be linked with a child in the community with whom you can exchange letters and learn more about each other.

You can become a SAO Friend for $25.00 a month. SAO Friends are not linked with a specific child partner so if you want to support SAO Children but don't want to write letters, SAO Friend is for you.

To become a SAO Sponsor or SAO Friend visit Baptist World Aid's website or call Baptist World Aid on 1300 789 991.

Become a Commit to Community Church Partner

Baptist World Aid Australia's Church Partnership program enables your church to build a life changing partnership with a vulnerable community overseas. The partnership engages your church across the five 50:50 themes and includes an annual bible study program that takes your congregation deeper into each of the 50:50 themes; opportunities to raise funds for a specific project in your partner community; involvement in key advocacy actions that make a difference in communities like the one you're partnering with; and regular prayer updates for your partner community.
